Enersys "Accommodating the Royal Navy"
It was another shipshape job when Enersys got on board to put underfloor heating and insulation into the Royal Navy’s newest accommodation block at HMS Raleigh on the Devon and Cornwall border.
Named after an 18th century vessel, HMS Raleigh has been a shore-based training school for sailors since 1940. More than forty thousand men and women - including every new naval recruit - pass through the base each year. Today’s state-of-the-art accommodation block will far surpass the previous humble hospitality experienced by sailors of the past.
With plans for ten blocks in total, the completion of the first two for Phase 1 has been a chance for Enersys to nail its flag to the mast. Masters of the art of insulation, Enersys advised the design team to adapt the levels of insulation in the different ‘zones’ according to actual need thus helping to ensure it was as energy efficient and cost-effective as possible.
When it came to the installation of the insulation and the underfloor heating, Enersys was determined it wasn’t going to hinder other areas of the build. Enersys directors Adam Sims and Ian Sawle say the company prides itself on being flexible and compatible:
“Our aim is to make sure that we fit in with everyone else and that, ultimately, we are contributing to a job being delivered on time and on budget.”
Mansell’s site manager, Tim Chapman says he was more than happy with their work:
“They came in, they did the job and there were no problems. As a site manager, that’s good enough for me!”
